One of the biggest projects is the irrigation project - The cooperative is clearing out irrigation channels, building new infrastructure (channels, supportive infrastructure, water reservoirs etc) and teaching local farmers how to use and install automated irrigation systems in both marshlands and hillside. Horticulture in Reality Cooperative, Rwanda Let us proudly present you “Horticulture in Reality Cooperative”, or HoReCo Coop. HoReCo is a cooperative of agriculturalists, of which 95% are Agro-Studies students, which is revolutionizing agriculture in Rwanda, thanks to the local government’s support and the students’ skills. Little Israel, Malawi After finishing her internship in Israel, Portia Phiri returned to Malawi and established a successful farm, which focuses on a wide array of crops. She named her farm “Little Israel”. After studying the Israeli Agricultural ways and seeing how the dry country was doing so well in agriculture, she returned home to venture into irrigation farming, which wasn’t developed enough in Malawi. She is very successful thanks to the knowledge she gained from her studies in Israel. Anthony Abena, Philippines Anthony Abena is a graduate of Agro-Studies, where he learned how to create and operate green houses, net houses and how to choose between them for different purposes. Now, back in the Philippines, he has been using this experience and knowledge to adapt the designs he learned in Israel to create a Papaya nursery net house.
