A learning opportunity
The International Conference about Global Warming has caused us all to
understand the urgency of this crisis and to respond to it. As educators, we have a
responsibility to organize opportunities for learning on a multi- and inter-
disciplinary level, to adapt them to relevant, local contexts and to this end, to
utilize teachers from the following disciplines: natural sciences, geography, civic
studies, history, social science, economics, psychology, philosophy, the arts,
languages, heritage studies and literature.
This topic lends itself to active learning opportunities around a central theme about
our world and to the development of our students’ skills in relation to scientific and
global awareness, as well as critical and creative thinking. It encourages
experiential learning, projects, and initiatives in all disciplines, not only in theory,
but also in practice, including taking practical steps in both personal and social
spheres.
Climate Change Education
Education about the climate represents a meaningful course in our
collective ability to cope with climate change and its repercussions. It
aims to imbue our students with the requisite knowledge, skills, and
opinions so that they can make intelligent decisions about how to react
to the crisis on a personal, local and global level. In addition to
broadening their knowledge and awareness, it is vital to include
experiential activities that answer a call to action and to provide
emotional support, since managing extreme situations can cause anxiety
and worry.

Students become key players in the sustainability
challenges and the related decision processes
Can we have an impact on Global Warming and to what extent can we
make a change?
How can we prevent fires, floods, and extreme weather temperatures?
In recent years, we have been experiencing extreme weather temperatures,
bringing world leaders to an international conference to discuss Global
Warming issues in Glasgow, Scotland. Scientists from all over the world
believe that this is a red-light warning to humanity to act to reduce the
severe consequences of the Global Warming crisis. In light of this situation,
we need to come to collective decisions to reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and to prepare for the repercussions of Global Warming.
